Violins are Made with Over 70 Individual Pieces of Wood
Amazing right? Now we see why violins cost so much money! Violins can be made from a variety of different types of wood, each affecting the sound in various ways. It takes approximately 250 hours to build a violin or viola, this number doubles when building a cello, and it can take about 6 months for a professional to make a double bass! So much hard work is put into the instruments even before the musician picks it up.
Locks of Hair?
Franz Liszt, consider the “the first rock star ever” due to his widespread popularity, was asked for so many locks of his hair that he bought a dog just to take snippets of his hair to give to admiring fans. People obsessed over this 19th century, musician and composer, the German poet Heinrich Heine dubbed the phenomenon “Lisztomania”, as women would throw themselves - and their clothes - at Liszt during his performances.

Not much needs to be said about that one… Don’t believe me? Check out this video!
How many minutes of silence?
Many musicians have probably heard of John Cage’s “Four Minutes and Thirty-Three Seconds”, which is kind of what it sounds like - four minutes and thirty three seconds of complete silence. But someone always takes it that extra mile, and this person’s name is Yves Klein with his Monotone Silence Symphony. SPOILER ALERT! This symphony consists of twenty minutes of a single prolonged note, followed by twenty more minutes of absolute silence. I bet the performers need that much time to recover from the first note!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Thinks Poop is Funny
This sounds like the title of a gossip article, but Mozart even composed a piece titled Leck Mich Im Arsch, which translates to “Lick me on the Butt”. Maybe he discovered toilets in E-flat, though the flush toilet wasn’t invented until his late teens.
