When you think of classical music, there are probably a few components that come to mind: the instruments involved (strings, woodwinds, brasses and percussion), musicians in stuffy suits or flowing dresses, operatic vocals - But did you know that there are different periods of classical music?
The most well-known are the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, and Modern periods... yes, one of them is called "Classical"!
For this reason, it pays to know what kind of music you'd like for an event. Classical music from the days of Bach and Telemann is very different from music composed a few years ago! Think about the style of music you're looking for at your event: it helps to tell a musician, "I enjoy music from the Romantic period" - you'll likely hear more of what you were envisioning!
